Gwen glanced at the clock and realised that she only had a few minutes before the morning meeting. She knew that it was going to be a busy and stressful day, but she was more than up for the challenge. The reporters discussed the need to inform the public about how to prepare for these extreme weather events and the need for governments to invest in disaster preparedness and response measures. As the meeting continued, the editors also discussed a new report on the devastating effects of plastic pollution on marine life. The report highlighted that the world’s oceans were filling up with plastic at an alarming rate, with more than 8000,000 tonnes of plastic being dumped into the ocean every year. As the meeting continued, Gwen began to feel burdened by the weight of the stories. It was clear that the global climate crisis was only getting worse, and that urgent action was needed to address it. She couldn’t help but wonder what kind of world her children would inherit if things continued to deteriorate at the current rate.

George’s stern expression softened, and he looked directly at Gwen.

Gwen felt a wave of relief wash over her, followed by a surge of pride. She had been worried that her coverage of the storm had fallen short, but George’s praise reassured her that she had done a great job. Feeling emboldened, Gwen leant forward and listened intently as George began to outline the next set of assignments for the team. She was ready for whatever challenge came her way.
